Power File Search is an advanced file search tool for Windows. It can be used as a replacement file search utility, since we all know the built-in search tool in Windows doesn't live up to our expectations. Perhaps the new one in Windows Vista and 7 does, but I remember how much I struggled trying to find files under Windows XP in the past.
Power File Search is a very light app. It is a single-window application with a few tabs that let you carry out different types of file searches. For example, the first tab allows you to find files the regular way: you type a few letters of a file name or the entire name and set a location, and the application will do the rest. You can also set it to search in subfolders and to show matching files and folder names. The next tab allows you to make use of date filtering options, while the third tab allows you to find text contained in files. This is extremely useful. To test it, I created a file and wrote some text in it, and then tried to find it. After a little while, the file was found. The last tab allows you to set exclusion rules. This means that folders that you add there won't be included in your searches.
